Fumiaki Mizuno (1st-year Ph.D. program, Graduate School of Media and Governance), a member of Professor Keisuke Uehara's laboratory in the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, received the 19th IEICE Communications Society Best Paper Award.

The IEICE Communications Society Best Paper Award is presented by the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), Japan's largest academic society in the field of telecommunications. Each year, several outstanding papers are selected and honored from all papers published in the society's Japanese and English journals. The selection process is extremely rigorous, involving a re-review process that took three months starting last October.

At the award ceremony held at the Kikai Shinko Kaikan on Friday, May 17, the award was presented by Professor Shoji Kasahara (President of the Communications Society).

Comment from Fumiaki Mizuno

I am very honored to receive such a wonderful award. This research addresses how to reduce latency in video transmission systems used in drones, a topic I have been interested in for some time. I believe one of the advantages of SFC is the ability to work on things that interest you. I would like to express my gratitude to Professor Nakamura, Professor Mitsugi, Professor Uehara, Professor Matsuya, and many other professors who provided guidance on my research and implementation.
